The Plot Thus Far....
Since the dawn of time Vampires and Humans have coexisted in chaos, constantly striving to have the upper hand in the struggle to be at the top of the food chain. They have been like a mongoose and cobra, constantly after each other’s throats, wishing nothing but death upon the other. Neither of these two beings could really gain the advantage they needed. The vampires were dependent on the humans for food, though they hated to admit it, they couldn’t just annihilate their adversaries in one go. On the other hand, humans were equally dependent on the vampires for their power and the advanced technology they always seemed to possess. Vampires had a lot of time on their hands, so most took to advancing everything around them, from clothing to weapons to politics and ideas. As much as the humans wanted to kill them, they just simply couldn’t. They would lose access to many of the advancements in society that the vampires had given them if they did.
It was only after the Medieval Ages that the tide began to turn. The humans had gotten crafty and began inventing tools such as guns, cannons, and bombs. No longer were they dependent on the ever hungry vampires for their tools, knowledge, and technology. With the creations of these weapons, the humans had overcome the one thing that was standing in their way, the power needed to defeat a vampire. Many vampires died when these new weapons were brought onto the battlefield. Guns and cannons were simply too destructive for them to deal with, not to mention that it was during this time that humans began to discover the many weaknesses of a vampire and how to kill one. Vampire populations plummeted and with their diminished population came the courage that the humans needed to finally conquer their oppressors. The sun was rising over the world, and it was time for the Dark Ages to be over. Man was now to rule the day and night.
The Vampire Hunts began.
Their numbers were dwindling by the day, their strength and sense of pride was smashed, and all hope of recovering from this new war slowly faded. Sensing that their time may be nearing an end, the oldest of the vampires gathered together for one final meeting. This meeting was to be their final gathering, the place and time where they would say their final good byes before being vanquished. All hope that they had had been smashed by the human race. It was during this meeting that one of the youngest of the Elder Vampires, Vlad Tepes, proposed a plan to counter the humans. He suggested that they do it through the means by which they were originally created, The Spell of Origins. His plan was to create an entirely new race which would over power the humans and consume them. No one knew where he had gotten this information from, because that spell had been lost for many centuries. The Elders however, saw this as their one last chance for their race and hesitantly agreed to Vlad’s plans. Thus, the Lycans were created. They were the physical embodiment of the vampires’ animosity, a man-wolf who could easily stand up to any vampire or man that stood up to them. Not only did they gain immense strength, but they also gained the vampire’s ability to heal and regenerate. The vampires had succeeded; they had made the ultimate fighting machine.
Once they had been prepared, the Lycans were released into the human societies with one goal in mind; wipe all humans from the face of the planet. Quickly, the Vampire Elders began to notice that the human’s population was growing increasingly thinner; they were losing their food supply. This alarmed them and they gathered together once more to consult with Vlad. They questioned him, wanting to know why the humans were dying so rapidly. This was not according to the plan. The young, ambitious vampire responded to them by using his new army of wolves to kill most of them. Very few escaped Vlad the Impaler’s wrath. With that, Vlad ensured his thrown in the shadows, ruling all three races by fear.
This reign was to be short lived however, for as the curse of the werewolf spread, the blind rage that usually filled the new lycan’s mind began to fade. The lycans began to rise up and establish their own form of society. It was brutal, almost barbaric. They could not be blamed though; it was in their nature to act as they did. It wasn’t long before they realized they were being controlled, and rebelled against their creator. No one knows what they did to Vlad, or where they hid his remains. Some in the vampire society believe that he is still out there, waiting for the time when he may return. Although, most lycans will tell you that their ancestors did in fact end Vlad Tepes.
With their tyrannical leader disposed of, the three races split apart, having no real devotion or unity to each other. This was the beginning of the last Great War. Whether they admitted it or not, Vlad had left his mark on history and upon each of the races; the vampires were not as unified and as sophisticated as they used to be, war and battle were the only things that the lycans knew, and the human’s confidence against either race had been shattered. Desperate to get ahead of each other, the three races declared war. The war lasted longer than any that man or any other creature had known, from the time of the Renaissance to modern day. The largest and most influential event happened during this time, the world fell into chaos in the year 2010 with the largest battle that the world has ever seen, spanning all 7 continents, The Battle of World’s End. The scrolls containing the Spell of Origin had been found just before the battle and each race wanted them for their own. The battles that ensued tore the world apart and destroyed most civilization. All three races were almost reduced to nothing before the leaders of each race called a truce to allow each to regain their stability. Rumor has it though that the scrolls ended up somewhere in Old Philadelphia.
Old Philadelphia, one of the last remaining safe hold for all three races. There is peace here so long as you follow the rules set in place to restrain and keep peace amongst the three. Trouble is brewing though, some of the vampires' history has come back to haunt them and it may affect the whole town. It is survival of the fittest here. Who will see the end?
